Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty (also referred to as a “tummy tuck”), is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat from your lower abdomen. The procedure aims to improve the appearance, definition and firmness of your abdomen. In some instances, abdominoplasty can be combined with liposuction where necessary.

The abdomen goes through a myriad of changes associated with weight gain and loss. Such weight loss is experienced by all genders and especially by women after pregnancy.

As a result, some people feel their abdomen is not as good as it once was. An abdominoplasty can help to address these concerns.

Abdominoplasty is available at our Bolton, Blackburn and West Yorkshire locations.

About Abdominoplasty

What abdominoplasty involves

Abdominoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia. This is to ensure optimal patient comfort during the procedure. The surgery involves the removal of excess tissue (skin and fat) from the abdomen and reshaping to create a more youthful appearance.

In some instances, abdominoplasty can be combined with liposuction where necessary.

There are many types of abdominoplasty surgery: Mini, full and fleur de lys.

Recovery

Many patients chose to stay in hospital overnight. Depending on your occupation, you may wish to allow 2 weeks to recover following surgery. Mr Molajo recommends wearing a surgical compression garment for 6 weeks. Additionally, he also requests that you avoid heavy lifting for 6 weeks. This is to aid the recovery process.

1 week: wound check and review

6 weeks: You should be able to return to most of your normal activities. Your scars will start to fade.

After a few months: Your scars will continue to improve over the next 12-18 months.

Is abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery right for me?

With his relaxed but informative style, your consultation with Mr Molajo will seek to examine concerns and determine what you want to achieve. Mr Molajo will conduct a detailed assessment to identify the best options available and review your medical history to ascertain your eligibility.

In some instances, abdominoplasty can be combined with liposuction where necessary.

Though the procedure also aims to restore self-confidence, there are situations where it is not right for a patient. With an open and honest approach, Mr. Molajo will ensure this surgery is right for you. Patient safety is of the utmost importance as “safety first is safety always.”
