Gynaecomastia correction

Gynaecomastia (also referred to as “man boobs” or “moobs”), is a common condition. Many men experience excess fat and breast tissue to the chest area leading to unwanted fullness

The media celebrates the ‘perfect’ male torso. Sadly these airbrushed images have become the expectation of many. As result gynaecomastia causes distress and so many men seek correction.

In many cases gynaecomastia has no obvious cause, but some can be related to medication as well as anabolic steroids and recreational drugs. Rarely it can be related to other medical conditions.

Gynaecomastia correction is available at our Bolton, Blackburn and West Yorkshire locations.

About Gynaecomastia correction

What gynaecomastia correction involves

Gynaecomastia correction procedure is performed under general anaesthesia. This is to ensure optimal patient comfort during the procedure. Excess fat and breast tissue is removed using a combination of liposuction and gland excision. In most cases the gland excision is performed through a small incision on the lower part of the nipple.

Recovery

Many gynaecomastia patients chose to go home the same day. You may wish to allow 1-2 weeks to recover following surgery depending on your occupation. Mr Molajo recommends wearing a surgical compression garment 24 hours a day for 4 weeks. Additionally, he also requests that you avoid heavy lifting and activities that cause bouncing for 6 weeks.

1 week: wound check and review

6 weeks: You should be able to return to most of your normal activities. Your scars will start to fade.

After a few months: Your scars will continue to improve over the next 12-18 months.

Is gynaecomastia surgery right for me?

The decision to have a gynaecomastia correction is very personal but empowering. The consultation with Mr Molajo is relaxed but informative and seeks to determine what you want to achieve. There are situations where gyanecomastia surgery is not right for a patient. Mr Molajo is always open and honest and will tell you if he feels surgery may not be right for you.

Risks

Gynaecomastia correction surgery usually produces high satisfaction but certain risks need consideration. They include risks common to all surgery including but not limited to; infection, bleeding, unpredictable scarring and nipple related issues including sensation changes, loss of blood supply to the nipple leading to nipple loss (very rare).
